Anna's Jazz Island is located at 2120 Allston Way, just east of Shattuck Avenue and downtown Berkeley Bart. There will be a small reception, and a donation of $10 will be requested at the door.
Cynthia McKinney has proven that she is a leader. She was the first ever African American woman from the state ofGeorgiato be elected to Congress. In an exclusive interview with Wikinews, former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney states why she switched to the Green Party. "Due to the importance of environmental issues, Green issues are the issues of today. The Ten Key Values of the Green Party stress us getting along with each other in harmony with the planet that gives us life."
When asked about how she would handle Iraq she replied, "I would instruct the Joint Chiefs to draw up a plan for the orderly withdrawal of all U.S.troops from the country. I would dismantle our military bases in the area, and I would also demand that U.S.and other international corporations relinquish any claims to Iraqi oil or other resources and withdraw as well."
On the local level, District 1 Oakland School Board Candidate Tennessee Reed states, "I will insist that the resources available to schools in the Hills will also be available to the schools in the flats." Her book, "Spell Albuquerque" about her education in the East Bay, will be published in the Fall by Counterpunch Press.
